Three Reasons Why You Should Consider A Bridal Session

I offer a bridal session as one of the add on options to my wedding collections. More often than not, I get asked what exactly a Bridal Session is. A bridal session is a photo session done before your wedding day of just you, the bride, in your wedding dress, with your hair and make up done and you can even add florals if you’d like. Think of this as sort of a dress rehearsal before your big day!

This gives the perfect opportunity for you to trial your wedding day hair and make-up. Hair and make-up artists often include trials in their services for brides, so we can coordinate this with your photos! This way you can be sure that you are going to like how everything looks, not only in person, but in your photos as well.

Regardless of the amount of time that you’ve booked your photographer for, on a wedding day everything is always on a time crunch. By having a bridal session done beforehand, you are not only allowing yourself and your photographer to have a little extra time on the day of, but you also have a little more creative control over photos. Your photographer will be able to recommend the best time of day for your bridal photos if you’re doing them outdoors, you will be able to choose a specific location that you like and this allows your photographer extra time to come up with more creative ideas during your session.

The more that you can talk to and work with your photographer before the wedding day the better. This allows you both to be more comfortable with one another and you will be more comfortable in front of the camera. If you’re like me and you’re a little camera shy, this is the perfect warm up! One of my favorite things is when I show up to photograph a wedding and I feel like a friend of the bride and groom, not just their photographer!

I will always encourage brides to do a bridal session. It allows the opportunity to trial your hair and make-up, a bridal session gives you a little extra time on your wedding day, it offers some creative freedom for your photographer to do more artistic style photos and this allows you and your photographer to become more comfortable with one another before the big day.
